Project Description
Action week Pankow on the move
Client/Funding Partner:
District Office of Pankow
Project Duration:
April 2020 – December 2022
In addition to promoting physical activity for health reasons, this project also aimed to encourage active mobility and raise awareness of how much individuals can contribute to a higher quality of life in their neighbourhoods. Active mobility also promotes equal opportunities, as physical activity can be carried out with low costs and tailored to individual preferences and abilities. The goal was to reduce traffic noise and increase open spaces in all districts, such as for bike paths and play areas.
The project weeks “Pankow in Motion” aimed to literally “get people moving,” encouraging them to take active steps for their own health, contribute to active climate protection, and improve urban quality of life.
Local institutions, associations, and organizations, as well as engaged residents, were encouraged to participate in the program by contributing their own planned activities. A broad action alliance helped further develop the network of local actors and institutions. The goal was to strengthen networks and cooperation between new and existing actors and institutions. In addition to the neighbourhood centres, a total of 55 local associations, organizations, and committed citizens actively participated in the action weeks.
The “Pankow in Motion” project weeks took place in 2020, 2021, and 2022, each from September 16th to 22nd, as part of the European Mobility Week.
